Michelin Keys are the hotel equivalent of the well-regarded Michelin Stars for restaurants. They are awarded to exceptional high-end hotels and luxury lodges, assessed by dedicated Michelin hotel inspectors and deemed to offer guests an outstanding stay.

The criteria for a ‘key’ include five crucial elements: excellence in architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for money and a significant contribution to the neighbourhood or setting.

This year marks a historic milestone as the Michelin Keys program has expanded around the world for the first time, with leading accommodations in Australia, New Zealand and South America now included.

Two Keys are for “an exceptional stay – a hotel that’s unique in every way, where a memorable experience is always a guarantee. A hotel of character and charm, run with obvious pride and considerable care”.

Baillie Lodges and Tierra Hotels chief executive officer Michael Crawford said the luxury lodges’ recognition in the world-renowned 2025 Michelin Keys was an outstanding result and a tribute to the teams, as well as the exceptional offerings at each location.

“We’re delighted to have been included in the Michelin Keys Awards as the esteemed review program extends to the diverse and extraordinary regions in which we are proud to welcome guests to stay,” he said.
