Deklen Reynolds and Amber Schumaker were honoured for their willingness to participate in a wide range of school and community activities, shown an outstanding commitment across a wide range of sporting and academic activities and who have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities.

“Deklen and Amber have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to achieving their best throughout their high school career, receiving excellent results in their senior subjects this year,” said principal Katherine Macfarlane.

“Deklen has balanced the responsibilities of completing year 12 with an Ergon Energy cadetship,” she said.

“Amber takes an active role in school events, coordinating fundraisers and activities, encouraging everyone to get involved and participate.”

Ms Macfarlane, who took on the role at the beginning of term 3 this year, said the awards ceremony provided the opportunity to pause and celebrate the remarkable achievements, growth and character of the students.

“It’s a time to reflect on what makes Mossman State High School such a special place to learn, to grow and to belong,” she said.

Ms Macfarlane believes that this year has been one of outstanding accomplishment, saying that across classrooms, workshops, sports fields and performance stages, students have demonstrated dedication, creativity and courage.

“They have tackled challenges with determination, supported one another with kindness and represented our school with pride,” she said.

The school is celebrating a year of outstanding academic success, with students achieving personal bests, excelling in external exams and pursuing ambitious pathways for their futures.

“Students have celebrated triumphs in sport, from regional and state representation to local competitions where teamwork and sportsmanship shone,” Ms Macfarlane said.

“In the arts, they have inspired through their music, drama and visual expression.

“Just as important as their achievements are the qualities that underpin them, the character, the perseverance and the sense of community that define Mossman State High School students.

“Every success story from this year’s awards, is built not only on talent, but on effort and support, from teachers who go above and beyond and families who stand proudly beside their young people every step of the way.”
