Soil key to growing plants
WHETHER you want to grow potatoes, bananas or peanuts, good soil is the key ingredient.

Find out how to prepare your soil to be nutrient rich at next Wednesday’s (November 11) Friends of the Botanic Gardens Cairns talk by Dr John Armour.
Dr Armour has extensive experience in soil fertility and nutrient management from more than 50 years of work.
This includes research for the nutrient requirements for peanuts, potatoes, bananas and pasture as well as managing offsite water quality for sugarcane and bananas.
The FOBG talks are held the second Wednesday of the month at the Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre, behind Tank sixtyfour café. No bookings are needed, just pay at the door, with FOBG members $5, and non-members $10.
