North Queensland regional operations manager Rachael Wynberg said from 10am to 2pm, surf life saving clubs at Mission Beach, Etty Bay, Cairns, Ellis Beach and Port Douglas would open their doors to welcome new and returning members.

“Local surf lifesavers and nippers will be on hand to showcase everything that makes the surf life saving movement such an important and rewarding part of our coastal communities,” she said.

“Whether you’ve always dreamed of wearing the iconic red and yellow, supporting patrols through drone operations, competing in surf sports or getting the kids involved in the ever-popular nippers program, there’s a pathway for everyone.

“No experience is required – all training is provided and our team will guide you every step of the way.

“The day promises plenty of fun for the whole family, with coordinated beach activities, live demonstrations, great food, and plenty of friendly faces ready to welcome you into the club.”
