Sharks inch closer to finals
THE Mossman Sharks are one step closer to the finals.

The Sharks have seen a very mixed 2025 season but have found some great late season form and have built some momentum as finals quickly approach.
The Cairns district rugby league competition this year is extremely tight and competitive with any team being able to beat each other this season.
The Sharks have recently found some great form after a rocky patch which has earnt them a top four spot on the official ladder with only two rounds remaining of the home and away season.
The Sharks entered the 2025 season extremely confident in their side and their capabilities.
The season started off in dream fashion, winning their first two games and only falling by one point to the powerhouse club and massive rivals Cairns Brothers.
Unfortunately, the Sharks went through a bit of a rough patch splitting a lot of their games with one win and one loss each fortnight.
The Sharks, knowing what their playing group was capable of, bounced back over the next eight rounds with a record of five wins and three losses and boosting their percentage with a huge win over the Edmonton Storm 70-12 and then winning two straight close games with wins over Innisfail 24-18 and other club rivals –the Cairns Kangaroos 32-28.
The Sharks A grade men’s team now sit fourth on the ladder with a record of eight wins, six losses and one draw, which puts them only one point clear of the Tully Tigers with two games remaining.
The Sharks have only one game remaining, having the bye next week and finishing their home and away season against the Mareeba Gladiators at Coronation Park.
The vibe around the Sharks at the moment is control the controllable. They’re only focussing on winning their last remaining game and not trying to look too far into the other match-ups around the competition.
