The film, shot entirely in Port Douglas with a regional crew from Cairns and Port Douglas, stars acclaimed Australian comedians Michelle Brasier and Ben Russell. Both are familiar faces from projects including Australian Story, Netflix’s Aunty Donna’s Big Ol’ House of Fun, Why Are You Like This, Utopia, Aunty Donna Coffee Café, Thank God You’re Here and The Project.

Stranded has enjoyed a successful festival run, screening at events such as Flickerfest Sydney and the St Kilda Film Festival, as well as international festivals in London and Argentina. This October marks the first time Far North Queensland audiences will have the opportunity to see the film on the big screen.

The screenings are part of two events. The first was at the Best of Australian Shorts 2025 Tour in Cairns last Friday and the second is at the Port Shorts Film Festival in Port Douglas on Saturday 17 October. Director Reilly Archer-Whelan encourages the community to support the regional creative scene by attending the screenings. Behind-the-scenes footage, trailers and interviews are available for media coverage.
