Police investigate blaze
POLICE are still investigating a fire which gutted a traditional two-storey house at Mossman.

The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) arrived at the Alchera Drive property, just after 1pm on Sunday 14 September.
Despite five crews on scene, the blaze lasted more than an hour and ultimately destroyed the property.
A QFD spokesman said after arriving at the scene just after 1pm, the fire was contained around 2pm.
“Crews were able to contain that fire to the house ... it didn’t spread to any other properties,” he said.
“I understand that there has been a structural collapse, so quite significant damage.”
A QFD spokesman confirmed no people were inside the home at the time of the fire, but neighbouring properties were evacuated as a precaution.
Nearby residents looked on as the Queenslander quickly became engulfed by the blaze.
“A quiet Sunday afternoon, suddenly became quite busy, noisy and scary,” said neighbour John Creek.
“It’s just lucky nobody got hurt,” he said.
Four crews remained on the site to dampen hotspots caused by the blaze but authorities confirmed no damage had been recorded to nearby properties.
Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have since been investigating the cause of the fire, but at the time of publication, investigations were still ongoing, according to a Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokeswoman.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
