Plaza orchid show bloomin’ lovely
THE beauty and diversity of orchids will be on display at a flower show at Mt Sheridan Plaza, from Thursday 7 May to Saturday 9 May.
Presented by the North Queensland Orchid Society, the free three-day event will transform the centre court into a vibrant display of colour, showcasing some of the region’s most stunning and rare orchids.
Shopping centre marketing manager Tanya Curtis said visitors would have the opportunity to view expertly grown specimens from passionate local growers, with entries judged by experienced orchid specialists.
“Open daily from 9am to 5pm, the orchid show offers something for everyone – from seasoned collectors to those simply appreciating the beauty of these unique blooms,” she said.
“Society members will be on hand throughout the event to provide expert advice on orchid care, answer questions and share their knowledge with visitors.”
A variety of orchids, including seedlings and mature plants, will be for sale, making it the perfect opportunity to take home a living keepsake or find a special gift ahead of Mother’s Day.
“On Saturday, visitors can enjoy even more community spirit as the event coincides with the centre’s popular activities and attractions, creating a lively and family-friendly atmosphere,” Ms Curtis said.
“Whether you’re an avid plant enthusiast or simply looking for a free and inspiring outing, the orchid show promises a memorable experience for all ages.”
