A PHOTOGRAPHY initiative celebrating the bond between people and their dogs has raised more than $25,000 for local animal rescue.

The ‘Puparazzi Art Project’, created by local photographers from By Heart Photography, has photographed more than 100 dogs across the Cairns region over the past two years, with funds supporting North Qld Animal Rescue.
The community-driven project is now culminating in the launch of a coffee-table photography book featuring portraits and stories of the participating dogs.
All profits from the book will be donated to charity.
Project creator Aleks Olczak said the initiative had been strongly supported by the local community.
The upcoming book launch will also serve as a fundraising and community event, highlighting what organisers describe as a focus on connection, compassion and giving back.
The Puparazzi project is also set to be featured in a national magazine, with Cairns Regional Council Cr Cathy Zeiger and Mayor Amy Eden expected to attend the official launch.
The event will be held on Wednesday 1 April from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at Artview Gallery, 220 Toogood Rd, Bayview Heights.
Organisers said the project aimed to both celebrate local pet owners and contribute to ongoing animal rescue efforts in North Queensland.
The launch marks the next stage of the project, with proceeds from book sales continuing to support North Qld Animal Rescue and future community initiatives.
