Nurture your group’s growth
CLUBS, community groups and event organisers have a golden opportunity to boost their impact, grow participation, make upgrades and bring fresh ideas to life.

Funding is now available through Douglas Shire Council’s community grants program, which includes two funding streams: the community facilities grant and community activities and events grant.
Douglas Shire Council Mayor Lisa Scomazzon said the grants helped bring ideas to life, whether it was upgrading a community space, hosting a local celebration or running a program that brought people together.
“They support projects that make our towns more vibrant, inclusive and safe and they’re a great way for groups to collaborate and contribute to the local economy,” she said.
Last year’s recipients included:
Douglas United Football Club – solar power installation ($8000)
Goobidi Bamanga Cooperative Society – NAIDOC 50-year celebration ($10,000)
Douglas Shire Community Services Association – Light Up the Park ($10,000)
Mossman & District Show Society – Mossman Show Ball ($10,000).
Show society president Matty Hatfield said the community grant had been instrumental in helping bring the event together.
“The funding helped cover catering costs and hall decorations. We were incredibly grateful for the support from Douglas Shire Council,” he said.
