New club chief
CLUB Mossman’s new manager Matt Bressington is eager to capitalise on its recent renovations, with the aim of seeing the club prosper and grow further.

Mr Bressington started his new role on Monday, 25 August, just prior to the culmination of a month-long celebration of the club’s 80th anniversary.
With an initial career in retail, hospitality and food services, Mr Bressington has also worked in tourism as a tour operator at Green Island and more recently worked in Cairns at the much larger Brothers Leagues Club in an operations role. He is also currently completing a Bachelor of Management and Tourism at JCU Cairns and is in his final year.
“I hope to continue on with the great work the club has already done by becoming an integral part of the community,” Mr Bressington said.
“I wish to further grow our involvement throughout the wider community and to ensure bowls is a focus for the club by supporting it wherever we can,” he said.
“Most important to me is to develop my staff, the club and what it offers to ensure our members are happy and our club is the venue of choice in Mossman.”
Mr Bressington is keen to develop his career in Mossman and having the ability to guide a smaller club really appealed to him.

“I love a challenge and I love this industry, so this was a natural stepping stone for me,” he said.
“My family has a history in Mossman and I was excited to return to a small town and be a big part of the community.”
Impressed with the recent renovations, Mr Bressington said “considering Mossman is a small town, they really have provided a first-class venue and it is my job to ensure we provide the service and entertainment options to match”.
He is looking forward to bringing new ideas, events, new menus and dining options, promotions and initiatives to the club.
He wants to ensure the club continues to grow and prosper which, will in turn, allow it to continue to provide significant support to many organisations within the local community.
“Club Mossman is a true community club and something all our members should be proud of,” Mr Bressington said.
One of his first roles was to be part of the club’s 80th anniversary celebration finale on Sunday, 31 August.
On the day, speeches were made by a number of dignitaries, a large cake was cut by club president Bill Allison and a $5000 cash prize was awarded to winning local Trish Arnold.
