It has led to the closure of roads, parks and other areas as Cassowary Coast regional Council assesses the damage.

A council spokesman said Lake Morris Road had closed following heavy rainfall, with strong winds, fallen trees and landslides creating unsafe conditions for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
