Muddies keep on slogging
AFTER another fortnight of cricket in the Douglas Shire, the Muddies third grade and fourth grade sides have seen very different looking results.
The third grade squad have split their results, while the fourth grade side has had a game to forget while still being in the hunt for their first win of the 2025/26 season.
The third grade Muddies have one win and one loss across the fortnight.
In round 8, the Muddies faced the Norths Freshwater squad where the Muddies bowled first and kept the Norths squad to 127 runs after their 35 overs.
Cameron Adam led the Muddies bowling attack with three wickets. The Muddies were able to chase down the run total very comfortably, winning their match by seven wickets.
Shaun Hollis and Andy Fenwick were able to lead the charge scoring 38 runs each. Round 9 saw the muddies hosting Mareeba looking to make it their third win on the trot. The Muddies won the toss and elected to bat first, finishing their 35 overs 8/104.
The Muddies bowling attack started off strong but a late partnership from Mareeba saw them walk away victorious by three wickets.
Despite the loss, the Muddies still keep their spot in fourth position.
The fourth grade squad have had a round eight to forget after hosting Mareeba and falling as a team for just eight runs, giving the Mareeba squad a very easy win.
In round 9 the Muddies hosted Atherton looking to bounce back from the previous rounds result.
The Muddies bowled first, bowling Atherton out for 118 runs in their final over, with Keel Sorensen leading the way, taking three wickets, while Shaun Anderson and Bryson Collins both finished with two wickets.
With a very doable chase, the Muddies fought hard but unfortunately just fell short losing the match by seven runs.
