Mixed results for Muddies
PORT Douglas Muddies have had a big fortnight of cricket as they begin to find their form for the 2025/26 season.

After a solid start for the two Muddies teams, the sides have continued their momentum over the last two weeks.
The division 3 side split their games with a 1-1 record, beating the Rovers’ development side by seven wickets, but unfortunately falling to the Bhutanese Rovers side in a nailbiter.
The Muddies win was a great team effort by the batting attack, only losing a total three wickets and easily chasing down the total set by Rovers.
Batsmen Shaun Hollis and Brad Case led the way with Hollis scoring 24 and Case finishing with 26 not out.
Case and captain Adrian Bannerman both finished the day with three wickets each while veteran Andy Fenwick also came away with two wickets.
The next match-up against the Bhutanese Rovers was a much higher scoring affair.
The Muddies won the toss and elected to bat first, finishing their 35 over with a total of 7/122. Cameron Williams led the Muddies batting finishing with 38 runs, while Brad Case was the next highest run scorer with 22.
The bowling attack did all they could to try defend their total, but unfortunately couldn’t secure the win, going down by four wickets.
The fourth grade Muddies unfortunately are still yet to chalk up their first win of the season after losing their last two matches.
Their first matchup against Atherton where Atherton handled business walking away victors by 67 runs.
Doug Barnes, Shaun Anderson and Rajan Paterson all finished the day with two wickets each, while Khobi Arthurson was the highest run scorer for the day.
The Muddies second game didn’t fair much better with a 62-run loss to Barron River. Jackson Hopkins led the way batting finishing with 18 runs.
The Muddies now try to keep or gain form for the next fortnight as the Christmas break quickly approaches.
