Lumir is a 37m Heesen superyacht, which will be available for private hire from 1 October to 15 November.

Tourism Port Douglas Daintree executive officer Emma Tunnock said the vessel’s presence highlighted a new chapter in high-end yachting for the region, further strengthening Port Douglas and Daintree’s reputation as a luxury destination.

“Tourism Port Douglas Daintree is pleased to welcome Lumir to the destination,” she said.

“Our region is renowned for its natural beauty and boutique experiences, and the arrival of a vessel of this calibre adds to the diversity of luxury options available for visitors.”

Charters aboard Lumir explore destinations such as Low Isles, Lizard Island, Hope Islands and Ninian Bay, each offering pristine coral reefs, remote anchorages and crystal-clear waters.

All-inclusive charter packages are available for three-night and seven-night itineraries, with gourmet dining and curated experiences included.

As the largest superyacht for charter in Port Douglas, Lumir has accommodation for up to 10 overnight guests across four ensuite cabins and capacity for 55 guests on day charters. She is suited for multi-day escapes, exclusive celebrations and corporate events.

Built by the esteemed Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts, Lumir is powered by twin MTU engines, reaching speeds up to 31 knots, making her one of the fastest yachts in her class.

Onboard, guests can enjoy a host of luxury amenities including:

A full-beam master suite, two VIP cabins and a twin cabin with bunks

A plush main salon with formal dining and a poker table

A sprawling flybridge with Jacuzzi, alfresco dining and a cocktail bar.

Lumir also carries a wide selection of water sports equipment, from jet skis and Fliteboards to snorkelling gear and paddleboards, offering guests the chance to fully immerse themselves in the region’s spectacular marine environment.

At the helm is Captain Charlie Kinder (pictured), one of fewer than 2% of female superyacht captains worldwide.

Raised in the Whitsundays, she took command of Lumir at just 21-years-old and is quickly making her mark as a leader in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

Her commitment to resilience, mentoring young crew and creating seamless guest experiences adds a powerful dimension to Lumir’s story and reflects the inclusivity and excellence valued in the Port Douglas and Daintree region.

Ms Kinder grew up on the water but didn’t set out to join the maritime industry until a turning point during the pandemic.

“At 19, I was quite lost. My dad, a maritime trainer, was teaching from our living room during COVID,” she said.

“That’s when I decided to pursue my STCW and coxswain’s course. I haven’t looked back since.

“Being a captain isn’t rocket science, it’s about fast problem-solving, keeping a calm head, working hard and prioritising safety.

“If you have those qualities and the resilience to push through the barriers, then you absolutely can succeed in this career.

“I really value giving our younger crew hands-on experience. That kind of support is often lacking in this industry.

“Watching our team create seamless, unforgettable experiences for guests is incredibly rewarding.

“Whether it’s days out doing watersports or quiet moments enjoying the boat, we make sure it all feels seamless and personal to our guests.”
