The Queensland-first project is designed to boost the reliability of the electricity supply for the community, which is at the end of the line in a disaster zone.

The centrepiece is a network-connected battery that can support the community during power outages – the more people can reduce their energy use, the longer the battery will last. The $5 million-plus high-voltage network-connected microgrid is designed to boost reliability, power quality and community resilience at the fringe of the electricity network.

Ergon Energy Network is inviting the community to the Energy Dreaming Experience workshop at the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre on Wednesday 1 October.

It is a free event, but seats are limited so anyone interested should register now at www.bit.ly/4gtSXeR
