The initial works on site will include slope stabilisation and the installation of over 550m of rock protection to restore damage to the highway caused by this extreme weather event.

Once the stabilisation and reconstruction works are completed the site will undergo pavement rehabilitation and a revegetation program to plant a mix of coastal plants and trees.

Some of the works along the beach will be carried out during low tide to allow crews access to the beach where the reconstruction works will repair erosion.

Road users can expect night works and intermittent single-lane traffic control measures along this section of road when works are underway.

Acting regional director Brendan Clancy said Pebbly Beach, a well-known location to locals and tourists, presented unique and challenging site conditions for “our crews with much of the reconstruction work requiring low-tide conditions to be completed and involved working closely with environmental authorities”.
