Giving ‘Tinny’ a $6m polish
ONE of Port Douglas’ most popular entertainment venues and clubs is planning a $6 million upgrade.

The Tin Shed on Dickson’s Inlet is in for a significant makeover.
General manager Kyle Livingston (pictured, right) said exact details were under wraps at this stage.
“Plans are forming for significant improvements to the venue, designed to support the growing community and enhance the way the space is used, while keeping the relaxed character that makes it special,” he said.
“These changes aim to create more opportunities for gatherings, events and shared experiences and for extended dining options.”
Mr Livingston said he could not elaborate as final plans and member approval hadn’t occurred but excitement was building among the board, members and staff.
“We are working toward a modernisation plan and then will seek the members approval of both the design and spend amount,” he said.
“I would suggest build cost would be around $6m.”
In the meantime, the recent members’ Christmas party drew a full crowd with plenty of prizes, music and laughs creating a night that people will talk about for a while.
“The turnout of members getting together for the annual event was amazing and as drinks and dancing got underway, it felt like Christmas was in full swing at the club,” Mr Livingston said.
He said the ‘Twelve Hampers of Christmas’ giveaway added further end of year seasonal fun.
“The hampers are randomly given out, which adds even more excitement, with members gathering each day to see who would take home a hamper packed with festive treats, gifts and experiences,” Mr Livingston said.
“The spirit of giving has certainly ramped up in the final months of the year, in true Tinny style,” he said.
“Donations for Mossman Support Services filled collection points and reflected the generosity this region is known for.
In 2025 The Tin Shed contributed more than $250,000 in sponsorships, donations and local assistance. The club’s monthly $5000 community grant program continues to give local not for profits and sporting groups fast, meaningful access to funding.
Mr Livingston said the year ahead involved a strong calendar of activity.
“Port Douglas Carnivale remains a major highlight for the region and The Tin Shed will once again be an ideal base for anyone wanting to enjoy the festival atmosphere along the waterfront, together with being a proud sponsor of the family beach day,” he said. “Seasonal dining events, community partnerships and member-focused activities are already being explored, building on the successes of this year.
“The past year shows, the Tinny is a club that knows its purpose and continues to evolve alongside the town it serves. The year ahead promises even more energy, connection and opportunity for the community that calls this place home.”
