One organiser, Carmelina Twomey, said it was a wonderful night at Club Mossman catching up with old friends and familiar faces at the school reunion.

“Laughter and stories filled the room as past students reminisced about their school days, shared memories and looked through old photos that brought so many moments flooding back of being young and carefree,” she said.

“It was a blast from the past when the 38 past students from the Mossman State High School of classes from 1985 to 1989, born the year 1972 and went to the school in the 80s.”

Ms Twomey said the idea was thought of by Bruce Eddleston and Toni Pitt and she joined the organising committee with Fiona Fapani.

“Many travelled from afar to be part of the evening, which made the occasion even more meaningful and touching back to home ground in Mossman,” she said.

“It has been 36 years since Year 12 and 40 years since Year 8.

“A total of about 80 past students and teachers were contacted to hopefully be there on the night, but due to work commitments and other things happening a lot were unable to attend.

“One local teacher, Sharon Case, who joined the high school back in 1989 was there to help celebrate the night.

“We took a heartfelt moment of silence to remember those who are no longer with us. A special reminder of the lasting bonds we share and the importance of cherishing each other.

“It was over finger foods and a delicious cake that conversations flowed easily and rekindled friendships as if no time had passed.”

Ms Twomey said current year 12 student Pablo Wild took many photos and captured many moments of group photos, hugs, talking or being with that special friend.

“It was a successful night of bringing together a large group of school friends to enjoy the night of the good old days,” she said.

“The following morning, the fun continued with breakfast together, a relaxed and lovely way to round off a truly memorable reunion.

“A huge thank you to the staff of Club Mossman for helping to make this event special and Mocca’s Pies for the delicious and beautiful cake for everyone to enjoy.

“There will be another school reunion in four years’ time to celebrate 40 years for the year 12s from 1989 for another amazing catch up for a night to remember.”
