First big fight night proves a winner at Port
AFTER months of preparation, behind-the-scenes work and endless hours of organisation, Force Boxing were able to host their first fight night at the Port Douglas sporting complex.

Force boxing owner and founder Lachy Buzza has always had a huge passion for boxing, mainly coming from his dad and former national championship runner-up Danny Buzza.
Lachy Buzza opened up his gym in 2022 and since then has seen monumental growth both in numbers of participants and social media following, with Force Boxing having just shy of 110,000 followers.
With the amount of growth Mr Buzza wanted to represent his gym at a higher level, so decided to put on a fight night and invite competitors from all around the region to compete.
The night had nine different bouts with all fights going for three rounds at two minutes each.
“This is great, not only for the competitors, but the sport in general, it gets some publicity and can hopefully draw some more people to the sport,” Mr Buzza said.
The night overall was a dazzling success for both Force Boxing and all competitors with a massive crowd showing out and all organised fights going ahead giving fans a full afternoon of entertainment.
Mr Buzza is hoping to make it a regular feature.
“Absolutely, it’s something I’d like to do again and see other gyms organise so fighters can get more bouts,” he said.
Mr Buzza said he’d like to see his event grow with more participants and more bouts in the future.
Overall, the success of the night was huge for all involved and force boxing.
The competitors both locally and visiting were happy with the event and would all be eager to compete in similar comps again in the future.
“I’m ecstatic about the overall result of the night, all bouts were a great show and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.”
While there’s no set date locked in for another fight night as yet, it’s definitely on the cards for 2026.
