Dragons roar into ‘25 finals
THE Port Douglas Dragons, after a super dominant season, have booked their ticket to the 2025 grand final after a nail biting 2-1 victory over the top-of-the-table Stratford Dolphins.

The Dragons look to eliminate last year’s grand final defeat by winning their upcoming grand final.
The Dragons had nothing short of an incredible year finishing the season second on the ladder with an amazing 14-2 record.
The Dragons all year knew that they had the team list to compete for a premiership but tried not to look too far ahead of themselves and took each game one at a time.
By season end, earning themselves a top-two finish and a second chance that 2025 premiership was looking closer and closer to being a reality, but they knew that a formidable squad in the Stratford Dolphins would be standing in their path as it was the Dolphins who handed the Dragons one of their two defeats this season.
The Dragons prepared for this game like any other matchup they’d played in all year.
The game started off super tight with the first goal of the match not being scored until the 40-minute mark by Stratford, sending the Dragons into half time with a 1-0 deficit.
The Dragons didn’t panic, knowing that they had a full half to play and put their first goal on the board at the 72nd minute.
With the game on the line, the Dragons knew they had to capitalise on the momentum they had built, which they did by kicking a goal in the 89th minute, securing them a 2-1 victory and a spot in the 2025 grand final. Both goals were kicked Georges Laulhe.
The Dragons now get a week off where they will continue to train and sharpen up on the little parts of their game and await the winner of the preliminary final.
While the Dragons await their next opponent, they will take the same attitude into the next fortnight and continue to work on bringing back premiership success to the Douglas Shire.
