The Port Douglas Crocs 2025 campaign started off in nightmarish fashion losing their first three games and looking to be at the tail end of their dominant dynasty.

Fast forward three months and that narrative couldn’t look any different, winning all their games from their 0-3 start to reclaim top spot on the AFL Cairns seniors’ ladder as finals quickly approach.

After the Crocs 2024 season finished in heartbreaking fashion, getting dominated in the elimination final by Cairns City Lions, there was plenty of talk that the rest of the competition has reached the extremely high bar that the crocs had set.

Even though the Crocs had looked to be completely written off, there was still plenty of belief around the club.

Their pre-season started as usual with plenty of fitness and endurance training and welcoming in their new recruits from around the country.

Even off a slow start, the Crocs knew that they could beat any team when at full strength.

After going on a dominant 12-game winning streak, the Crocs senior men’s team have found themselves back on top of the AFL Cairns ladder after two massive wins in the last fortnight against their biggest rivals - South Cairns Cutters 69-60 and the Cairns Saints 90-56.

These two wins now have the Crocs 6-point clear on top of the table with only three games remaining of the home and away season.

To top off the Crocs hot form, star forward Kye Chapple kicked his 900th career goal against the Cairns Saints as he gets closer to 1000 career goals.

The Crocs dominance doesn’t end with the men’s team as the women’s team has now officially booked themselves an inaugural finals berth after a hard-fought win against the Cairns Saints 31-26.

The women’s team now look to send another warning shot as they take on the comp’s powerhouse side – Cairns City Lions – and look to find some form and momentum walking into finals.
