Grants of up to $12,000 per project are available through the program, a partnership between the Queensland Government and Cairns Regional Council aimed at supporting projects that strengthen the region’s arts and cultural landscape.

Cairns Mayor Amy Eden said the fund continued to play an important role in supporting the region’s creative community.

“Cairns already has a growing reputation as a regional creative hub and we want to continue to build that status,” she said.

“Creativity is an important and sought-after skill, and these grants help to engage our vibrant arts community through supporting a wide range of creative projects that bring social benefits and economic rewards.”

A recent recipient, writer and director Lucien Simon, received $12000 in 2025 for his project ‘A New Face’, an immersive theatre work exploring the housing and affordability crisis and its direct impact in Cairns.

Applications are open and close 17 April. Visit www.bit.ly/4sAGICF
