Circus comes to town for Shire children and families
SEA Circus in Port Douglas is inviting Douglas locals to dive into a wondrous world this school holidays with a fun hands-on workshop discovering the magic of ancient treasures through playful acts and cool tricks in circus arts, aerial acrobatics and dance.
Taking place from 5pm-7pm on 11 April at the surf life saving club, this community event will warm up with some hula hooping, poi ball spinning and mini stilt walking, followed with the opportunity to learn tricks from qualified teachers in aerial silks, lyra pole and salsa dancing.
Organisers recommend an early arrival, with a chance to grab a bite to eat at The Surfy Restaurant.
The workshop will be held on the surf life saving club grounds together with DJ tunes, big bubbles, face painting, raffle prizes, best dressed contests and mermaid friends flicking their tails.
Windswell Adventures Port Douglas will also have their trailered vessel ready to jump aboard for attendees to take the wheel and navigate back into ancient times of pirates and Poseidon.
People can also hook into the world of water sports learning basic SUP board and kite wing skills (land-based only).
“Come dressed as your favourite ancient god, goddess, rainforest or sea creature for our Ancient Treasures event,” said event organiser and performer Vanessa Carey.
“Also check out our school holiday timetable as we have a huge range of adventurous activities and epic experiences,” she said.
“The event will conclude with a short performance by Sea Circus, Pyro Glow Productions and Keep on Dancing to show you what can be achieved through patience and practice.
“However, we’ll be saving our ancient jaw dropping acts for the big Carnivale Showcase in May.”
