Carnivale expands line-up for annual event
PORT Douglas Carnivale has expanded its entertainment line-up with a mix of comedy, cabaret and family-friendly events set to run during the annual festival.

A one-night-only 80s-themed comedy hypnosis show featuring hypnotist Matt Hale is among the headline additions, promising a night of “laughter, music and mind-bending entertainment”.
Organisers say the high-energy show will feature audience participation, with volunteers becoming part of the performance. The event is expected to draw strong interest, with limited tickets available.
“Think big hair, iconic hits, and outrageous audience participation as Matt transforms volunteers into the stars of the show in ways you won’t believe,” the event promotion states.
The Carnivale program will also kick off with an opening party headlined by DJ Sonya, with tickets priced at $10. The launch event is expected to set the tone for the broader festival.
Families are also being targeted with the introduction of ‘Parents vs Kids: The Slime Showdown’, described as “a high-energy, laugh-out-loud family spectacle” featuring interactive elements and a messy finale. Tickets for the event are also $10.
“Arrive early for a chance to play the game. Load up on popcorn. Cool down with a drink,” organisers said.
Another new addition is ‘Happy Hour’, a comedy cabaret blending live music, circus and cabaret performances. The show is being promoted as a high-energy experience that encourages audiences to engage beyond traditional viewing.
“From the moment you step inside the tent, the vibe is electric, and by the end of the night, you’ll be on your feet dancing with us,” the promotion states.
Organisers say the expanded line-up is designed to offer a mix of entertainment options for different audiences, from adults seeking nightlife experiences to families looking for interactive activities.
Further details, including ticket availability, are now live as part of the Port Douglas Carnivale program, with organisers urging early bookings due to limited capacity events.
Tickets for Happy Hour start from $79.
