Bulldogs rip apart Crocs

AFTER an amazing and memorable season by the Port Douglas Crocs senior men’s and women’s teams, both unfortunately saw their 2025 campaign come to an end in the AFL Cairns preliminary final.

The Crocs seniors team entered the post season full of momentum ready to bring back more silverware to the Douglas Shire.

Even after a devastating qualifying final loss, the Crocs looked to put that behind them and regain their form in the preliminary final against the North Cairns Tigers.

Entering the game without their key forward Kye Chapple, the Crocs looked to make a statement and still come out on top without their superstar.

The game was played at Cazalys Stadium under lights in extreme rain and wind, making the challenge even harder for both sides,

Crocs young star Zayne Moore said “the game definitely didn’t go as planned for us”.

The game was kept close all the way to three-quarter time but inaccuracy proved costly for the Crocs, only kicking 2.14, resulting in the Tigers running away with the win comfortably 70-26.

As disappointed as the Crocs boys are, this season will be used as motivation for their 2026 campaign as they hunt for another premiership.

The Crocs senior women’s side were nothing short of amazing this season.

After missing a finals berth in their inaugural season, they not only booked a 2025 finals berth, but made it all the way to the preliminary final.

In what was the most intense game for the girls all season, the Crocs lead the majority of the way in a low scoring affair.

Unfortunately, for the Crocs, the Bulldogs experience prevailed, coming away with a 16-13 victory.

As heartbreaking as the loss was for the Crocs, both the playing and coaching group are proud and impressed with this season’s outcome and look extremely forward to continuing that form into 2026, where they look to win their first premiership.
