SANTA’S Toy Store is returning to Mossman.

The joyful pop-up filled with new toys donated by generous local businesses and community sponsors is designed to give parents and caregivers the chance to choose special gifts for their children at affordable prices, making the magic of Christmas more accessible for families who may find this time of year a little harder to manage.

Community development officer Erica Mast said by offering “a warm, welcoming space where families can select gifts with dignity and pride, Santa’s Toy Store celebrates the spirit of giving in a way that keeps choice and connection at the heart of the season”.

“Every purchase directly supports our Christmas hampers and community Christmas Day lunch, helping ensure that households across the region can enjoy a festive and nourishing celebration,” she said.

“We are deeply grateful to the sponsors, volunteers and community members who make this project possible and help bring Christmas joy to every corner of the Douglas region.

“We are excited to announce that we will be hosting Santa’s Toy Store again this year, which is an opportunity for families doing it tough to come in and purchase gifts for their children at super discounted rates.

“We will provide opportunity for families to purchase a present and one stocking stuffer per child, ensuring there are enough gifts to go around this holiday season.”

Ms Mast said staff and volunteers believed it was important that the community knew the store was not just somewhere to get a cheap price but was intended to ensure families who might not be able to buy quality toys for their children were given the gift of giving.

Santa’s Toy Store will operate from The Cottage, Mossman Support Services, 20 Mill Street from 9am to 2pm on Thursday 4 December, Friday 5 December, Monday 8 December and Tuesday 9 December (closing at noon on this day).

Mossman Support Services are also looking for volunteers who are interested in helping with Santa’s Toy Store or any other help this holiday season.

“We are looking for community members to help make this the best holiday season ever. We need present wrappers, bakers, decorators and cheerful elves to help us at the Community Christmas Day lunch on Christmas Day,” Ms Mast said.

For details, contact Ms Mast on 4098 2836 (option 1).
