Boy and Bear ‘tripping over time’ at city parklands
MULTIPLE ARIA Award-winning indie folk band Boy & Bear will return to Cairns this year, with a performance scheduled at Munro Martin Parklands on 3 July 2026.

The announcement, embargoed to 26 March, marks the band’s latest Far North Queensland appearance following a sell-out show at Tanks Arts Centre in October 2023.
Boy & Bear first rose to prominence in 2011 with the release of their double-platinum debut album, ‘Moonfire’, which won five ARIA awards.
The band has since achieved five consecutive top 10 albums, three number one Australian albums and more than half a billion streams.
Guitarist Killian Gavin said the band always looked forward to returning to Cairns.
“We love coming to Cairns, it’s clearly a music-loving town,” Mr Gavin said.
“People are always so grateful that we have come and played there, and it’s such a lovely part of the country.”
Mr Gavin said regional touring remained an important part of the band’s work.
“It’s such a privilege to be able to travel to so many different parts of the country and have so many fans come along to see the shows.
“Life would be pretty boring if we just did capital cities, and let’s be honest, the most beautiful parts of our country are often found regionally,” he said.
The band has been preparing a revised setlist for the Cairns performance, with audiences set to hear a mix of established hits and newer material.
Fans can expect renditions of tracks including ‘Southern Sun’, ‘Feeding Line’ and ‘Harlequin Dream’, alongside songs from the band’s sixth studio album ‘Tripping Over Time’, released in December 2025.
“We obviously have a new record, which allows us to throw a bunch of new songs in there, but we have also been working on some slightly different segments in the show to previous tours,” Mr Gavin said.
“We can’t say too much,” he said.
Tickets went on sale from 26 March, with further information available via Ticketlink.
