The live production, based on the Emmy award-winning children’s television series, started in Melbourne on 30 December before travelling to cities and regional centres across the country.

The Cairns leg will be held 28-29 March at the Cairns Performing Arts Centre.

Featuring large-scale puppetry, the stage adaptation brings characters Bluey, Bingo, Mum and Dad to life in a theatrical format. The show includes an original story by Bluey creator Joe Brumm and music by composer Joff Bush.

The production follows Bluey and Bingo as they attempt to get Dad off the bean bag during an afternoon at home.

Since premiering in Australia in 2020, the show has toured internationally across the UK, Ireland, Canada, the US, Europe, Singapore, South Africa and the UAE, attracting millions of audience members.

Scott Modra, director of brands and licensing at BBC Studios ANZ, said the return tour reflected the show's continued popularity.

“After an incredible journey touring around the world, we’re beyond excited to bring Bluey’s Big Play home to Australian audiences. The love for Bluey continues to grow, and we can’t wait for families around the country to experience the joy, laughter and heart of this special live show – right here on home soil,” he said.

Producer Andrew Kay said the production had reached more than two million fans worldwide.
