Bandits unbeaten in cricket
THE senior women’s cricket competition is beginning to heat up as round four delivers another exciting chapter, with the Mareeba Bandits continuing their unbeaten start to the season and establishing themselves as the team to beat.

With just three teams competing in this year’s competition, every match carries significant importance as Mareeba, Mulgrave and Norths battle for supremacy.
The Bandits have wasted little time making their intentions clear, producing another impressive fortnight of cricket to maintain their perfect record.
Their first encounter saw them take on Mulgrave in a rain-affected contest, with Mareeba eventually securing victory through the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method after wet weather interrupted proceedings.
Despite the unusual circumstances, the Bandits collected another valuable result before turning their attention to Norths.
Mareeba followed up with an emphatic 10-wicket victory, delivering a dominant performance to further strengthen their position at the top of the competition.
The result highlighted the Bandits’ impressive early-season form, with the squad continuing to build momentum as the competition progresses.
However, despite their unbeaten record, Mareeba are refusing to get carried away with their success.
Bandits opening batter Rebecca Brady emphasised the importance of remaining focused and approaching each contest with the same mentality.
“We’re just taking it one game at a time, cricket is a great humbling sport so we’re not getting too far ahead of ourselves,” Brady said.
While Mareeba have established themselves as the early frontrunners, both Mulgrave and Norths remain determined to challenge the competition leaders.
With limited teams in the competition, the opportunity for revenge is never far away, and both chasing sides will be eager to become the first to knock off the undefeated Bandits.
As the season continues, the pressure will only increase on Mareeba to maintain their winning streak.
For now, the Bandits remain the benchmark, but with Mulgrave and Norths hungry to cause an upset, the battle for women’s cricket supremacy is far from over.
