Awards galore for PD Crocs

THE Port Douglas Crocs have won a host of gongs at the AFL Cairns awards night, including men’s coach of the year, men’s rising star and both most valuable players.

Senior coach Nick Salter was crowned best in the league, young gun Cayden Stabenow took out the rising star and Sam Fairclough and women’s captain Caity McPhee were the MVPs. Kye Chappell also won goal of the year.

After a roller coaster season, the three teams (senior men’s, senior women and men’s development) got together at home to celebrate the season it was.

The Crocs saw two teams make the preliminary final, just missing out on the 2025 grand final, giving the club plenty to both celebrate and build off.

The prestigious presentation night was held at the Sheraton ballroom where the top players and life members of the year were announced.

Two new life members were Margie Scott and Paul Scott and volunteer of the year awards to John Liddell and Mitch Brown.

Crocs midfielder Sam Fairclough was named the senior men’s best and fairest.

Other award winners were:

  • Runner up best and fairest – Murphy Short

  • Most courageous – Ben McPhee

  • Best backman – Harvey Moore

  • Best young talent – Zayne Moore

  • Best team man – Tommy Kluske

  • Most committed – Adam Williams

  • Rex Hawkes won the reserves’ best and fairest award

  • Runner up – Jackson Hopkins

  • Most respected – Rex Hawkes

  • Most improved – Blake Dormer

  • Most determined – Jack Connor

  • Most committed – Lachlan Kupsch.

Gun midfielder and captain Caity McPhee took home the best and fairest in the women’s award after an extremely dominant 2025 campaign.

The other award winners:

  • Runner up – Luca Roulstone

  • Most improved – Megan Bell

  • Most consistent – Jamie Byrne

  • Coach’s award – Grace Lanigan

  • Best first year player – Hannah Hyland.
